LÖWENGANG Chardonnay

No other wine has defined the history of our family winery as much as the LÖWENGANG Chardonnay. In the 1980s, it was the first white wine from Alto Adige to successfully position itself on the international markets. While it embodies decades of expertise and tradition, we are nevertheless always refining and enhancing its qualities.

LÖWENGANG Uvaggio Storico

The vines of the Löwengang vineyard are around 145 years old; it is among the oldest vineyards in Alto Adige. The former owner, Count Melchiori, originally planted Carménère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in these plots around 1875. The grapes for our LÖWENGANG Uvaggio Storico come from this vineyard. Several years ago, we propagated vines through sélection massale (massal selection) and expanded the vineyards to preserve the treasure of this unique DNA for the future.

The Löwengang Estate

When our grandfather acquired the Löwengang Estate and its vineyards in 1934, the vines were already 60 years old. Today, parts of the vineyards are around 145 years old; they are among the oldest vineyards in Alto Adige. Count Melchiori, the owner at the time, planted the plots in Magrè with Carménère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon around 1875.
