The label’s Roman numerals refer to the year 1957, marking when the vineyard’s vines were first planted. In 1995, the exceptional quality of the grapes from this vineyard inspired Luis von Dellemann, the then-responsible oenologist, to vinify these grapes separately, creating this distinct wine.

At the southern foot of the Magrè talus cone is a vineyard known in the local German dialect as “Punggl”, which is well-known and sought-after for its winegrowing. In the mid-1950s, the owners of the Hirschprunn Estate planted a Merlot vineyard there, as it had already produced excellent results. Today, this vineyard is the cornerstone of the MCM wine. Each year, only the highest quality grapes are selectively chosen for this wine.
