“Aged wines are similar to elderly people who have not the power, but the wisdom. The wines have a certain elegance and vibrancy as well as an extraordinary personality - this is something very unique and special”, says Alois Lageder.
In the 1980s, our father recognised that the true quality of a wine is most evident in its mature form. As a result, starting with the 1995 vintage, we have set aside a select portion of our Crus each year. This practice has allowed us to accumulate a remarkable collection over the years, known as our Rarum winery reserve.
Through extended ageing, the wines develop in special ways, and we get closer to solving the mysteries of the interplay of location, climate, vinification and time.
For the new RARUM edition, we have chosen our KRAFUSS Pinot Noir and made a selection of the vintages 2002, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2015.
The venerable 70-year-old vines that yield the MCM Merlot remain a source of inspiration. The 2022 Rarum Edition features the following vintages: 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013.
The Rarum Edition 2021 highlights our LÖWENGANG Cabernet, featuring an exclusive selection from the 1996, 1998, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2010 vintages.
In the Rarum Edition 2020, we focus on our COR RÖMIGBERG, showcasing a collection from the 1996, 1998, 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2010 vintages.
